Welcome to Splack Linux.

This is a special beta version for the Javastation.
It seems to work OK on MrCoffee, and *should* work on Krupps
but I do not have one to test.

Support is available on the Splack Developers mailing list
splack-devel@lists.sourceforge.net

There are a few essential tasks to complete to complete
the installation. We will probably automate these eventually.

1) Set a root password - just type passwd at the root prompt.
Create a normal user account and use it - only fools use
the root account for anything except system administration.
( It's your system - but root allows you to make too
     many mistrakes. )

2) Run setup to map your keyboard and configure your system.
You MUST use Configure after mapping your keyboard or
changes will not be made permanent.

3) All relevant packages in the a1 set and most of the n1
set have been pre-installed. You can run setup to add
extra packages as required. Network swap is not yet supported
so it is a bad idea to use a heavyweight GUI. Rather
choose something lightweight such as fvwm.

4) Your NFS root filesystem has been automatically added to
/etc/fstab , you might want to add some more NFS or SMB
   mounts as required.

You should now have a working system.

You do not need to change /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 because the network
gets automatically configured at boot time.

It is a good idea to have as much physical memory
as possible, the MrCoffee Javastation will accept 2 pairs (4 sticks)
of 72 pin SIMMs of up to 16 MB each, for a max of 64Mb.
DO NOT use EDO SIMMs, they will not work properly.

And last but not least - you can get rid of the login message
pointing you to this file by removing /etc/issue

Enjoy.
