Q: What is Kisa?
A: Kisa is small application for X11 based desktop systems that spell checks
anything you type. The results are presented in a small widget window.

Q: What does Kisa mean?
A: It can mean anything you want. In Swedish it means "to squint your eyes".
It's also the name of a town in Sweden. In Icelandic it means cat. In Bosnian
rain. Knight In Shining Armor perhaps, but that's a bit too..

Q: How does Kisa spell check?
A: Using Aspell.

Q: Is Kisa a spell checker?
A: No, Kisa uses Aspell as a back-end for the spell checking.

Q: Why use Aspell, it's so old/bad/not cool/incompetent...<whatever>?
A: That's what i decided on. Support for other spell checkers may follow.

Q: So what's with the purple flag?
A: If you can make a "squinting eyes" icon please let me know.

Q: How do I install it?
A: See the installation instructions in the README file.

Q: How do I uninstall it?
A: See the uninstall instructions in the README file.

Q: What do I need to run it?
A: See the runtime requirements in the README file.

Q: What do I need to compile it?
A: See the compile requirements in the README file.

Q: How does it work?
A: Kisa uses your desktop's X server to subscribe for event notification, like
keypress events. So whenever there is a key presented in a window Kisa gets
notified about that. Finally, when a white-space key has been pressed, the
accumulated keypress characters will be used as a word that is spell checked
   using Aspell.

Q: So is it like a key-logger?
A: No, there is no logging done. Only standard and open X11 functions are used.
There is nothing "shady" or malicious about how the program operates.

Q: Are there any security risks?
A: None that I know of. However, be careful with who sits in front of your
computer as everything you type can potentially be shown on the screen.

Q: How do I use it?
A: Run the application after it's installed (or compiled). A small window and
should appear on your desktop and an icon should be visible in the system
tray. Right click on the icon and select settings. Change the setting to your
liking, accept them and then select Run from the same menu. Kisa will now
start spell checking anything you type in any window on your desktop.

Q: Why is it not working?
A: First check if it might be an issue with your locale and/or Aspell
dictionary. Have a look at the README under the Issues section. If you're
still having problems please send me specific information.

Q: Why is may keyboard layout not recognized?
A: If you can't get Kisa to load the right dictionary based on your keyboard
layout you might have to add a mapping for that layout. Look in the
   mappings_override.txt file for more information.

Q: How come whenever I have word completion enabled Kisa stops receiving
   keypress characters?
A: Because the completion pop-up steals focus away from the window that
you are currently typing in. Until there is a fix for that, just turn
off word completion in your application.

Q: Is there global shortcut key to change dictionaries with?
A: To my knowledge Qt doesn't support global shortcut keys. A Qt application has
to have focus for a shortcut key to work. It has to be enabled in your
desktop manager. KDE supports this. I'll get back to you when I know more.

Q: Why is there no support for language XYZ?
A: If you mean why there are no dictionaries, that's an Aspell thing. If you
mean why there's no translation for that language, it's probably because
no one has translated the application. Please do help if you can.

Q: When will bug XYZ be fixed?
A: As soon as possible. Give me money and it might be sooner rather then later.

Q: Where can I get the latest version?
A: Here.

Q: Du you not have an SVN?
A: Yes, but it's not for public use.

Q: Will there be a KDE version?
A: It was my intention to write a native KDE app, but I'll hold out until KDE4
is stable enough to develop on.

Q: Will this be included in KDE?
A: I don't know, it's not up to me.

Q: Valgrind tell me that there are memory leaks, what's up with that?
A: What I can see is that all the errors originate from library functions
outside of Kisa. If you have information suggesting otherwise please let me
   know.

Q: So why are there so many spelling errors in these documents, didn't you use
   your own application?
A: Well, yes, but it is only as good as the person using it...

Q: Why is flag XYZ showing up for language ABC, that's so wrong?!
A: Right now the QLocale is doing the translation from language to country.
This is not always accurate as a best guess is made. For instance the
language code "en" for English will become "en_US", which is American
   English.

Q: How can I help out?
A: Great, any effort is appreciated. Please send me a note. Or money.
